![]() I've finally gotten one and it will probably be my primary HD gun with 200-gr subs. My first criteria was the ability to shoot subsonic ammo so I don't blow out my ears which is why I run 147-gr Federal HST rounds in my 9 mm and that dictated. Interesting comments, but I suspect that most of y'all don't live in an apartment like I do. In that scenario, (like an arsonist planning to burn your house down with you sleeping in it) having something capable of a little more range and confusion inducing silent operation would be perfect. I began thinking that, if they were armed, they’d probably see any flash, locate me and return fire in the worst scenario from outside, if I saw someone maybe sneaking around my out buildings at night etc. But, there was a little theft on the property during night time. I think most of us envision scenarios where we and the intruder are in the home. There were still neighbors, fairly nearby, and not having them complain about noise while shooting during darkness would be a huge plus. 22lr just wasn’t enough for bigger racoons when I was in opportunistic pest control mode. 300 AAC, when I was living in a rural environment, it wasn’t only for home defense, often it was for extremely large racoons. If I had exactly what I want (including suppressor) I’d definitely use a. Those are my thoughts and that's my logic. 300 blk Pistol by the bed, but those are SHTF guns and not the first things I'd reach for when investigating a bump. ![]() One 9mm bullet is a lot easier to account for in that regards. 300 or similar going through walls and or houses make that a much bigger issue. ![]() Buckshot slinging 9 shots down range and or a 5.56. While you would always have to be considerate of bullet penetration and the like. I can more easily maintain control of the weapon as I don't have a large barrel for someone to grab/manipulate and therefore making it useless. If necessary but obviously not ideal situation arises were I have someone close in, I can fire the weapon effectively, think hand to hand combat range. It allows me to open/close doors or operate light switches without compromising my ability to defend myself. I can easily operate it with either hand or with both. ![]()
